hi,

I want to change the name and destination (directory) of the archive log files of a running oracle 9i production database.

do I just have to shutdown the database, modify the log_archive_dest_1 and log_archive_format parameters and start up the database again ?

or are there any other things to do like move the old archive files to the new destination, rename them etc ?

tnx.

yes.
do the changes.
secure the old and new destinations with filesystem permissions.

Tnx, it worked this way.

although to make them permanent I had to issue
CREATE SPFILE from PFILE='.....' on the inactive
(shutdown) instance.
