I use the Net 8 Configuration Assistant to configure tnsnames.ora. The following entry from my tnsnames.ora file works for some clients but other clients need to change the first line to
CAPS817.CONFLUENCE.COM =. What causes this behaviour?

CAPS817 =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Pandora)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = CAPS817)
)
)

Depends on the version of the oracle client used and how you have set 'global_names'.

Are all the users using the same version of oracle client ?
