I have 30 client computers configured to share an Oracle Home (9i) which is placed on a server on the network.

It works, but I have a question: what if I put the networked Oracle Home on the Oracle database server? Would it affect the performance of the database at all?

YES. All the binaries would be running from there including all your database files being accessed. Of course if you have a massive amount of hard drives, controllers,CPU's, and memory you can do anything!
