I installed oracle 8i on my win2000 system.after stopping services i installed Forms6 and now every thing has installed perfectly.sql prompt works perfectly. and form 6 executes perfectly. but they did not connect with oracle server with the error message TNS:could not resolve service name.
any in time help will really be appreciated.

tns should be added in two places in your case . One in Oracelnetworkadmin and the other in ora81net80admin for default installation.
so check the tnsnames.ora in both places. Most probably it is missing in ora81net80 (ie. wher forms is installed)

Hello,
you send a reply to this problem but unfortunately problem did not solve i did every thing according to ur advice but in vain.

Hi,

You need to modify the tnsnames.ora file which is on your system. The file should contain the server information, like port, SID etc...! Then try connecting to the server. Make a fresh start after modifying.
