hi,

Currently, i have both Oracle Financials 11.5.5 DEV & PROD sitting
in the same server. We intend to refresh this old server in two
months time. When the server is refreshed, the PROD will stay in
the new server. However, we intend to move the DEV to another
server.

Hence, just a couple of questions:

1)Do I need to use rapid cloning to move the DEV to another server?

2)Or can I do a cold backup and restore the DEV to another server
by simply changing the sid.env, the apache configuration and
the oracle database control files?

for this exercise, all mount points and userids will stay be
the same.

Please advise.

thanks
Kenny

Hello.

I would suggest using RapidClone, E-Business Suite has the hostnames and application file paths hidden in a million places which you'd never find.

Also, RapidClone is supported by Oracle so if it breaks and Oracle ask what you did you can give them a valid answer.

Cold backup will not work as mentioned by above user because of reasons mentioned above .

You have two option

1. Restore cold backup to new server & Follow document to change hostname of server .

2. Clone Instance .

If your instance is rapid clone enabled then clone is best option.

Check here for cloning overview or basics
