Would like to ask the forum a question ,
as we all know one can implement a single module or more than one module for a client ! In that case, if a company wants to implement AR alone ! How will it be possbile for them to have a Multi Org Set up !
Since Multi org forms are available in HRMS module and in Purchases Module ! If the client is not intrested in these 2 modules and he is only interested in AR alone !
1) He cannot implement Multi Org
2) He should buy some other modules
3) Oracle will include those necessary forms in AR module and give it to the client !
4) i cant think off
what will happen?

This is the closest answer. What you buy from Oracle is a licence to use the applications that you pay for. What Oracle ships to you on CD is the entire Applications suite. This is because (as you suggest) of the dependence of each module on other modules.

You have to make sure that the people who are implementing the application have access to all of the Responsibilities required to do the setup, but the end users will only have access to the Responsibilities for Receivables (or those necessary to perform their jobs).

When you licence an application in the Oracle E-Business Suite you also get a so-called "shared" licence so that you have access to the necessary functionality in other applications. For instance if you by Oracle Purchasing you also get access to simplified forms for registering organisations.

Can the shared licences be misused by implementors or clients! Can oracle identify if such thing happens ?

As David wrote the entire E-Business Suite is installed when you install the Oracle E-Business Suite. So in theory you could also use all of it even though you have only licenced parts of it. Oracle has no more control over this than over other aspects of your licence such as number of CPUs, number of users and number of instances, though I am sure they have something in their contracts that ensure that audits can be performed.

Ignoring the ethical and legal ramifications of such abuse, I still do not think it would be a good idea. You would have absolutely no support (which you need) for the unlicenced applications and Oracle might become curious if you started to download patches (not having to do so is unheard of) for applications you have not licenced.

Well just try logging a SR on MetaLink for a product you are not licenced for and see how far you get. And if you think that you can get through an implementation without logging a single SR for each application, you obviously haven't been involved in many implementations. Laughing
