Hi,
DB : 817
OS : Sun Solaris

One of my db is on 817 and somehow archive is generating very fast, Normally it's generating approx couple of dozens in a day. But at present it's generating every after 2 to 3 minutes.

There is no background job is running, no application changes from last 1 month... What could be the reason for the same?

Regards,
Harshad

Increased DB activity? Check who are logged-in and what they are doing.

I have checked at that time, no too much activity and eventually after few minutes it's started behaving normal. It seems there is issue with roll back. Anyways thanks for your reply after long time.

Oracle does not generate redo or undo for nothing, only if you ask it to.
Check again your activity, you surely miss something.

Use StatsPack during these hours.
User LogMiner to check what has been done.

Michel,

I have checked everything during that time, Only I am not able to check is statspack reports. I have check all the possibilities, I have checked status of tablespaces also, I have to monitor the session who is generating more redos. Weired thing is that after few minutes it's got disappeared.

Harshad

IMO, the best tool to solve this mystery is LogMiner to actually see who is changing what that generates all the redo activity.

FYI... There are certain parameters which are responsible for the same. fast_start_parallel_rollback .. whcih causes more redos.

This is a bug not a normal processing so your post is wrong:

NO. fast_start_parallel_rollback does not generate much more redo... unless there is a bug.

You should post "there is a bug in certain versions that leads to more redo generation when fast_start_parallel_rollback is set to true. Have a look at Metalink note 2186174.8".
Your current post is misleading.

Michel

Switching tablespaces to backup mode generates more logs.
